Welcome to Class!

This blog is dedicated to the excitement, education, and overall enjoyment of everything Science! Now, I know what you’re thinking, whether you’re a young student or weathered veteran of the subject, you’re probably either thinking; Yuck! I don’t like Science, I’m not good at, and I never will be, or; Wow! I really like Science, it is my favorite subject! But when you stop and think about it, Science may not be what you think it is. When we are born we have a natural curiosity. Which, for most, can never truly be satisfied (hence the saying, ‘Curiosity’ killed the cat). We grow and so do the questions. As our minds mold and understanding sets in our questions become deeper and more rhetorical. Now whether you are a young person, or old alike, we all have questions. Science is exactly that, a lot of questions. Science is built from the premise of asking questions. That sly term you started using way back in middle school, hypothesis, simply means forming a well thought question. Scientists make a living (some better than others, cough, cough teacher salary, cough, cough) just by asking and trying to prove their own questions. Now, I don’t know about you, but I can’t think of anything else more interesting than being able to ask lots of questions, and then trying to find the answers! So, next time you hear the word ‘Science’ and start to feel that uncomfortable twinge in your belly, stop and think about what Science really is. Then go out and find some answers!

    Mr. Wolfe,

I asked the students today in a warm up “Have you had good experiences in Science in the past, why or why not?” So many of them said “Yes, because I had Mr. Wolfe!” What an impact you make on students!
